The Success Story of ICED 2017
The International Conference on Economics and Development 2017 organized by The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Sri Lanka with the collaboration of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura as the Hosting Partner and the Waramadewa University, Indonesia as the Academic Partner. The conference was held on the 15th and 16th of June at the Taj Samudra hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka. ICED 2017 was organized under the theme “Inclusive Economic Growth: Rethinking the Development Process in a Time of Paradigm Shift””, and was chaired by Dr. Sumudu Perera, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Business Economics, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka.
The opening remarks of ICED 2017 were made by Professor Sampath Amaratunga, The Vice Chancellor, University of Sri Jayewardenepura together with Dr. Sumudu Perera,the Conference Chairperson.
The conference comprised of seven technical sessions, during which researchers from around the world presented their research findings. The technical sessions were:

Dr. Saman Kelegama’s Keynote Speech @ ICED 2017
The highlight of the inauguration of ICED 2017 was the keynote address by Dr. Saman Kelegama (Executive Director, Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS). A forum on “Inclusive Economic Growth: Rethinking the Development Process in a Time of Paradigm Shift” was organized in line with ICED 2017. This segment featured 5 speakers and a moderator who shared their industrial experience with the other participants and gave insight to measures taken by industries to alleviate the impact of economy to industry and society. The participants had the opportunity to listen to Mr. Ralph van Doorn, Senior Country Economist for Sri Lanka and the Maldives – Global Practice for Macroeconomics & Fiscal Management, Dr.Nandalal Weerasinghe, Deputy Governor, Central Bank – Sri Lanka, Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka.
Former Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in Geneva, Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to France, Mr. E.A. Rathnaseela, Director Department of Public Finance Ministry of Finance Sri Lanka, Mr. Anushka Wijesinha, Chief Economist, The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lanka as panelists of the forum and Dr. Indrajith Aponsu, Senior Lecturer, University of Colombo, Consultant, Ministry of Science and Technology as the moderator. Five panelists discussed and shared their views and ideas on the theme of the forum. The University students representing a number of universities in the country were delighted being a part of the forum and the invaluable experiences and the knowledge of both academic and the industry.

All accepted abstracts will be published in the conference abstract book with ISBN. All full papers will be accepted through a double blind reviewed process and will be published electronically with ISSN in proceedings with a DOI Number (DOI prefix: 10.17501).
